At least they're getting along

So the other day I walked into the baby's room to find this

I don't think I've ever seen them sit that close together before.  At least some good is coming out of it.  Then a few days later I found Duchess checking out the pack and play.

At least we know its comfortable.  I've caught each of them in there and found Maxwell in the crib yesterday as well.  Maybe once the baby comes home and they realize all this stuff belongs to "the screaming one"  (Thats how I figure they will think of her) they will leave it alone.

34 weeks.  I'm pretty sure there's no room left, so these last few weeks should be fun.

By Request

Part 2 of the blizzard has arrived.  The Federal Government is closed for the third day in a row.  I can barely see the building across the street with the snow and wind.  Spring needs to get here quick!

Here's an update on things with the cats.  Ian made the crib off limits by filling it with pillows and stuff.  Since we've put the actual bedding stuff on we've only caught Duchess in there once.  She quickly jumped out after we yelled at her.  They both spend a lot of time back there but for the most part they lounge in acceptable places.

He's so sweet when he's sleeping

And by request (I'm practicing filling grandma's requests quickly since I'm sure that will be a much needed skill in a few weeks)  here are some closer pictures of the nursery details.
Mom - if this isn't what you were looking for let me know and I'll get what you want.

Thanks Jena!

The Aftermath

The Metro stopped running sometime last Friday night and since there was no public transportation the Federal Government in DC was closed yesterday.  I decided to be adventurous and leave the house for the first time in a few days.  I knew it was bad outside, but I had no idea.

It was as if we had a flood with 20 inches of snow on top of it.  Some places the roads were in really good shape, other places they were flooded, some spots had several inches of slush, and some spots hadn't been touched.  There was one puddle that was so deep it probably came up to at least half my tires.  I wasn't so sure I was going to be able to drive through it.  (for anyone in the area don't try to turn up Yokum from Edsall for a few more days...)

I snapped a couple of pictures with my phone while I was out and about.

This is the parking lot at the mall across the street.  They've done a good job getting it cleared but there are just mountains of snow here and there.

Here you can see that the plowed snow it almost up to the level of windows on my car.

Not sure why this car was left at the grocery store, but sucks to be them.

These last two are in the lot at our building.  And for anyone that wants to lecture me about taking pictures while driving...They were all taken while I was at a dead stop waiting on traffic and lights.

The Federal Government is closed again today.  I've had a cold since Saturday, so I'm thankful that I don't have to actually go outside in my sick-pregnant state.  There is more snow on the way today.  They are calling for about 10 - 15 more inches.  GOOD TIMES!  I think it goes without saying, I'm ready for Spring.

The Blizzard of 2010

The week before Christmas a record snow storm hit DC.  Depending on exactly where you were how much snow there was, but we had about 20 inches.  The last week of January gave us another 6 inches.  It wouldn't have been so bad if it hadn't come down so quickly and if they had done anything to clear or treat the roads.

That brings us to last Friday...

This is what things looked like around 3PM when I got home.  Snow was coming down pretty quickly but it was warm enough that it was melting as soon as it hit the ground, so it looked like it had been raining heavily for a few hours.

As the sun went down along with the temperature the snow began to stick.  Thankfully Ian got home from work before things got really bad.  Here's what we woke up to Saturday morning...

Sorry for the quality of some of the pictures.  I was taking them through the windows which aren't very clean on the outside plus there is a screen involved.  The snow just kept coming down so I took a few more pictures around 1:30 on Saturday.

If you compare this one to the one above they look about the same, however you can barely see parts of the cars in this one.

This was my attempt to get a shot of 395, however the window was covered with moisture and I wasn't about to actually step out on that balcony.

And that brings us to Sunday.  The sun came out and if it wasn't for the mess on the ground it would have been a beautiful day.

What a time to be 8 months pregnant!

2 Feet of Snow

... is good for something!  I made some real progress on the baby's room this weekend.  Here is the photographic proof.

DC Baby Shower

Thank you Katie, Allison, and Jen for throwing me a baby shower. It was so nice to spend the afternoon and celebrate with my DC "family."  Thanks to everyone who braved the snow to be there and for those of you who were unable to attend we missed you.  It was awesome having my mom and sister there to share in the fun as well.

This entire stack of clothes is from Grandma!  Thank you!  At least this stuff is bigger sizes so we have some stuff for a little further down the road.

The most adorable octopus ever!  Thanks Sandy!

Grandpa sent more stuffed animals for the collection

YEAH!  The bedding set!

Since we're snowed in this weekend I'm taking advantage and trying to get more of the room together.  Hopefully there will be more pictures of the room soon.
